Welcome

TO

The Obahor Experience.

We are ecstatic and blessed knowing that you, (our family and friends) will embark with us to bear witness of a day ordained by our heavenly father for us to begin our journey as one. We look forward to seeing each and everyone.

Thank you for choosing to experience and celebrate this upcoming moment with us.

“Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” -Mark 10:9

Our Love Story

It is written that he who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.

God has favored Edirin, for Okeoghene is “God’s gift” to Edirin,

As Love is patient, “Edirin”,  Edirin is God’s Love towards Oke.

Oke and Edirin met at a UPUA-YA event in Kansas City, MO on Aug 31st, 2012 (Edirin’s Birthday), fast-forward 4 years later; Edirin proposes to Oke at a UPUA-YA event in Houston, TX on Sept 2nd, 2016 and his GIFT from God (Oke) said

YES!!!!!

  • It all began on August 31st, 2012. I had just arrived at the hotel after a long drive from Houston, TX to attend the Urhobo Progressive Union America (UPUA) annual convention. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by the excitement, thrill, and anticipation of all who had arrived for the convention. In that moment I looked up, and saw two men approaching my direction, one of them was my man! “Edirin.” Of course at the time I had no idea who he was but was curious to. Mr. Monday, who was in charge of the registration called Edirin over to introduce me to him as one of the young adults. He requested that I be well taken care of, which he did graciously.

That evening, I arrived at one of the event functions, and was greeted by Edirin’s voice as he gave a speech. I could not help but make mention to a friend Elohor, that I had met him earlier in the lobby (girl talk…lol). On Sunday, as the three day event came to an end. Edirin and some of the members of his Chapter performed a dance, which fascinates me till this day, because of how a few on a dance floor commanded the attention of the crowd. Of course, I set in my conservative ways J still had some “weird”comments to voice out lol…. After their performance, we ran into each other in the hall and he said to me, “I saw you recording when we were dancing. May I contact you later to send me the video and pictures?” to which I replied “Okay”.

A few weeks later, I received a text from him, followed by a phone call. I remember this quite distinctively because he was driving to his friend’s wedding. I recall asking him what his favorite part of a wedding ceremony. His response was, “I now pronounce you husband and wife”. I giggled and said mine is “you may now kiss the bride!”. We both laugh and that laughter has continued though our relationship.

    -Oke.

  • It’s been a long and arduous journey, but the day is fast approaching when we’ll finally be in the same city for more than a week. By God’s grace and Oke’s kind heart, we’ve stuck it out and have only grown closer to God and to one another. I couldn’t have asked for a more creative, kind-hearted, and beautiful person to share the rest of my life with. I’m excited to see what Oke will accomplish and look forward to being by her side every step of the way. I’m looking forward to spending this momentous occasion with our families and those who have had an important impact in our lives.
